Feature Wall – in Pantone Rubine Red with “curves”
Brief: A beautiful feature wall for an advertising agency in the Sydney city.
The feature wall was to copy the brand colour and design of the business card of the business.
The background colour was Pantone Rubine Red 220 (matt) and the stripe was Pantone Rubine Red C 220c (gloss).
Brief:
Actual:
Detail Shot – sharp lines and beautiful roller finish.
- The job was done in November 2007. It had to be done in two weeks – before a function – and was done after hours.
- The job was challenging for a number of reasons – getting the colour right, and then transferring a sharp design onto the wall. The paint couldn’t be touched up – so we had to get it right the first time!
- The matt paint was custom made by “Covered in Paint” in Newtown, made from a base that was freighted up from Melbourne. The colour needed a pink undercoat and three coats of the custom paint.
- The gloss was a coat of Dulux Crystal Clear Acrylic gloss – with Floetrol drying retarder added, and applied with a fine nap roller – the client wanted a smooth finish.
- The design was drawn out by Grant Wallwork on a sheet of paper, and transferred to the wall by the technique of “pouncing” (the design was marked out with pin holes, the paper held to the wall, and chalk dusted onto the holes, marking out the design on the wall in tiny pin points of chalk).
- The edges of the stripes were carefully taped with 3M Blue tape.
- The gloss was a coat of Dulux Crystal Clear Acrylic gloss – with Floetrol drying retarder added, and applied with a fine nap roller – the client wanted a smooth finish.
- The tape was carefully removed immediately after the clear finish was applied.
- The feature wall was a success and the client was delighted!
